"Yes,老虎📭" said Zuzana. "But I don't think he ever got it. Because no answer came."
"It was marked 'Urgent,老虎🆗' in red ink,老虎🍍 Doctor,老虎👞" said the swallow,老虎🚛 "so Speedy thought he had better send it to you by special delivery."
About eleven o'clock a group of little rocky islands were sighted,地图🌿 which their guide said were the Harmattan Rocks. At this point in their journey the mainland of Africa was just disappearing from view on the sky-line behind them. The rocks they were coming to seemed to be the home of thousands of different kinds of sea birds. As the canoe drew near,老虎😇 gulls,老虎🍀 terns,老虎🐵 gannets,收购📊 albatrosses,老虎🍤 cormorants,地图😏 auklets,地图📡 petrels,地图🐋 wild ducks,老虎💿 even wild geese,老虎👒 came out,收购❎ full of curiosity to examine the stranger. When they learned from the curlew that this quiet little fat man was none other than the great Doctor Dolittle himself they passed word back to the rocks; and soon the air about the canoe was simply thick with wings flashing in the sunlight. And the welcome to their home that the sea birds screeched to the Doctor was so hearty and noisy you couldn't hear yourself speak.

Toward evening the Doctor arrived at a small settlement of straw huts,老虎💁 the village of Chief Nyam-Nyam. Calling on the Chief with an introduction from King Koko,收购💇 the Doctor was well received. He found,老虎💉 however,老虎🚒 that the country over which this chief ruled was indeed in a very poor state. For years powerful neighbors on either side had made war on the old Chief and robbed him of his best farming lands,老虎🌚 till now his people were crowded onto a narrow strip of rocky shore where very little food could be grown. The Doctor was particularly distressed by the thinness of the few chickens pecking about in the streets. They reminded him of old broken-down cab-horses,老虎💘 he said.
"About midnight I met the lady mouse with whom I was in love,地图👹 beneath a lamp-post. And,地图⛪ would you believe it? She wouldn't speak to me! Cut me dead,老虎💮 she did.

One day Gub-Gub came to the Doctor and said:
"About one more day's journey,收购🎱" said the snake. "A wide belt of these swamps surrounds the Secret Lake of Junganyika on all sides. The going will become freer as we approach the open water of the lake."
"Yes,收购🗿" the snake agreed. "They're going to Junganyika. It is the feeding ground of great flocks of wild geese."
John Dolittle steered the boat up closer still and continued to talk to the woman in a kindly way. But she seemed for a long time to mistrust him because he was a white man. Little by little,地图🌜 however,收购💔 the Doctor won her confidence and at last,地图🐩 still weeping bitterly,地图📇 she told him her story.
Then Speedy whispered in the Doctor's ear:

"'Good!' said the pig. 'I've come to the right place. Let us go on with the dinner.'
So Dab-Dab went off upon her errand. And in the meantime the Doctor talked and chatted with various sea bird leaders who had already made his acquaintance at the Great Conference in the hollow of No-Man's-Land. These kept coming up to him,地图🏂 anxious to show off before their fellows the fact that they knew the great man personally. And once more the Doctor's notebook was kept busy with new discoveries to be jotted down about the carriage of mail by birds that live upon the sea.
The sun had not yet risen on the gloomy waters of Lake Junganyika before Jip felt the Doctor stirring in his hammock,地图🐂 preparing to get up.
"Well,收购🔱 if I had been conspicuous before,地图🐁 now I was a hundred times more so. They stopped their fight and joined the chase after me. And very soon I had the whole blessed town at my heels. It was awful. So they went across to the other side of the little island and started opening oysters. But not another pearl did they find.

"Move an inch and you're a dead man!" he snarled.
Late that same afternoon the Doctor returned to Chief Nyam-Nyam's village. And with him he took the cormorant as well as Dab-Dab and his animals.
"How far off the rocks is the ship now?" asked the gull.
